Dr. Sheldon Orloff

Sheldon (Shelly) Orloff received his subspecialty training in pediatric nephrology as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California at San Francisco. Following his fellowship, Shelly joined The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) as a physician in 1979 and remained there until his retirement in February 2014. Shelly has been a member of the Department of Pediatrics in Oakland since 1987.

Shelly served as the Co-Director of the Early Disabilities Screening Program and Director of the Regional Center Review Committee on behalf of Kaiser Permanente Northern California. In 2013, Shelly was selected to serve on the Autism Advisory Taskforce for the Department of Managed Health Care. The task force issued its findings and recommendations to the Governor and state legislature as required by SB 946. Shelly was TPMG’s clinical lead and direct contact with Easterseals Northern California from contract signing in February 2012 until his retirement. During that time, as Director of the Pediatric Developmental Disabilities Office, Shelly worked with Easterseals Northern California’s leadership to develop strong working relationships between the two organizations during a time of unprecedented growth. In 2016, Shelly was also nominated to the Easterseals National Board of Directors.
