Applied Behavioral Analysis

What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

A common treatment option for individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a scientific discipline focusing on meaningful changes in behavior through the analysis, design, implementation and evaluation of social and other environmental modifications.

Applied Behavior Analysis will help an individual in many ways:

  • Increase skills in communication, social interactions, and self-reliance
  • Improve ability to focus on tasks with instruction
  • Increase motivation to perform
  • Decrease problem behaviors, such as self-injury or outbursts

We offer center-based and in-home ABA services in both 1:1 and group settings. Our ABA services can be provided at a clinic, in a client’s home or in the community depending on the needs of the client.

Program Components

Assessment

We use a formal assessment methodology to guide the development of a client’s behavior program. This assessment occurs before treatment begins and is ongoing throughout the client’s program to determine treatment effectiveness and whether the client’s goals are being met.

Treatment

Clients receive an individualized treatment plan developed by our Licensed Behavior Analysts. The treatment plan is based off the initial ABA assessment and ongoing reassessments throughout the term of the plan. Data on a client’s skill acquisition and behavior is recorded and analyzed regularly. We offer a range of ABA services to help meet the needs and desires of each of our clients.

  • Parent-Led – Parents and caregivers learn the basics of ABA via coaching from a highly skilled team in order to implement ABA programming with their child.
  • Group – Two or more clients meet with one or more behavior analysts to improve their cognitive and social skills.
  • 1:1 – Clients meet individually with a practitioner, either in one of our clinics, in their home, or another location in the community.
  • Social Skills Groups– These group sessions are focused on teaching and reinforcing social skills development through structured social skill building activities.

Parent and Family Involvement

An important part of our ABA program is training parents, family members, and caretakers on how to assist in the client’s program during and after sessions.

What is the Goal of ABA?

The goal is to help someone with ASD work on skills that will help them become more independent and live a happy and fulfilling life.
