Accessibility Guidelines

Easterseals Northern California’s accessible, usable websites give all users — whether they have disabilities or not — access to a wealth of information about our organization.

This website showcases one way corporations or organizations can successfully construct an accessible and usable site without compromising creativity. In fact, some of the adaptations intended to benefit users with disabilities have also proven useful to people using alternative means of accessing the Internet (text-only screens, handheld computers, and wireless telephones).

ESNorCal has actively supported and promoted the independence of people with disabilities for more than 90 years. We’ve helped remove barriers that prevent people from working, going to school, traveling, and actively participating in their communities. Our approach to website accessibility is just one more step toward providing universal access to people of all abilities.

This website complies with online accessibility standards created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which has developed common protocols that promote the evolution of the World Wide Web and ensure its interoperability. ESNorCal meets or exceeds the requirements of W3C’s three priority levels of accessibility, when applicable.

ESNorCal’s website also meets and exceeds federal accessibility guidelines set forth by Section 508, the 1998 Congressional amendment to the Rehabilitation Act requiring Federal agencies to eliminate barriers in information technology, make new opportunities for people with disabilities available, and encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals.

ESNorCal is dedicated to website accessibility and we welcome comments on how to improve the accessibility of our website.
